On Friday, April 11, student teams from Oak Hills, Hesperia and AAE high schools presented mock bills at the Legislative Power Lunch sponsored by the High Desert Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (HDHCC). Our 5-member team from Oak Hills – consisting of seniors Dana Baraka and Victoria Fierro, and juniors Jorge Espinoza, Robert Long, and Jocelyn Virgen – were selected as the winning team with their bill proposal on aqueduct safety. This has earned the students a trip to the State Capitol in Sacramento this coming June to meet with state lawmakers and leaders. The HDHCC Legislative Power Lunch connects high school students with federal, state, and local legislators for meaningful discussions on important issues. This event demystifies the legislative process while giving students a chance to engage directly with policymakers. Thank you HUSD for the opportunity to attend! #ItsAGreatDayToBeABulldog

Every 15 Minutes, someone dies due to an alcohol related incident! Oak Hills High School, partnership with CHP and Traffic Control, is honored to bring forth the Every 15 Minutes Program and simulation on Thursday, April 3rd and Friday, April 4th, 2025. Bulldogs, we encourage you to discuss the impact and consequences of Driving under the Influence; as well as hope that the Every 15 Minutes Program and Simulation will impact you, and loved ones, for decades to come! Tomorrow and April 4th, the California Highway Patrol, in conjunction with Oak Hills High School, will be conducting a simulated drunk driving traffic collision as part of the Every 15 Minutes program. The simulated collision will be staged on the street, in back of Oak Hills High School and will begin at approximately 10:00 am. Expect road closures and heavier than normal traffic around the school during those times.
